History was created when the inauguration of Ananda-Jaffna Hindu Cricket encounter for V.T.S. Sivagurunathan trophy got off to a fine tart, amidst rain, at Ananda Mawatha in Colombo, on 7th September, 2012, at 9.00am , with the participation of many distinguished Old Boys from both schools.

Central Bank issues commemorative coin

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) issues commemorative coins and notes with the approval of the Hon. Minister of Finance in terms of Section 52A (1) (a) and (b) of the Monetary Law Act (Amendment) No. 6 of 1998. The CBSL has issued 54 commemorative coins to mark important events and persons since 1957.

Ananda College's 125th Commemoration was held Tuesday (Nov 29) morning, in the distinguished presence of H.E President Mahinda Rajapksa at the Ananda College kularathne Hall.
The event was organized by the Anada Collge Old Boys Association, themed 'Generation of Ananda 125'.

There was an All Night Pirith Chanting on the eve of the Founders’ Day, the 1st November,2011, followed by offering of Alms [ Dhana ] to 125 members of Maha Sangha. Ananda College established branches at Gampaha and Pannipitiya in 1942.
The Gampaha branch was located at the temple called Abhinavaramaya (presently Sama Viharaya) on the Colombo road. Temporary buildings out of cadgan and wood were put up. Some of the temple buildings too were used.
The land opposite, which was vacant, was leased for the primary school and cadgan sheds were put up there too.
The principal of Annada, at the time was Mr. A.B. Perera who remained in Colombo.

Ananda College pays tribute for Old Anandian war heroes

The "Anada Viru Harasara" organized by the Ananda College, Colombo, to pay tribute to the Old Anandians in the armed forces and police was held at the Kularathna Hall on 3rd July 2009. His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksa, President and, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces was the chief guest to the colourful occasion organized by the college and the Old Boys Association.
